I'm excited, and a bit annoyed, that the closing film on Friday is going to be the world premiere of Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone.
Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone is a new theatrical version of Neon Genesis Evangelion, which started as a TV animation series in 1995 and remains immensely popular over a decade later with a huge following of fans. The previous theatrical animation was a tremendous hit in 1997 yet its obscure ending roused controversy. Ten years later, in 2007, Hideaki Anno planned a new theatrical series in 4 parts, and the Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone is the first of his tetralogy. After the tragedy of the “Second Impact” that killed half of mankind, a 14-year old boy, Shinji, gets mixed up in the war between the UN army and Angel. He pilots the Evangelion, a human figure weapon secretly developed by the NERV special agency to defend the earth from its enemy, Angel. Following its domestic release on Sep. 1, 2007 in Japan, Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone will have its international premiere at the 2007 PIFF.It would be a little insane, but I'd love to go down again just to see this.
